When a death occurs, the first step is to contact a funeral director. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist you. Our team will arrange for the respectful transfer of your loved one into our care and provide you with the necessary information and support. When a death occurs in a hospital
If your loved one passes away in a hospital, the staff will guide you through the necessary steps. They will provide you with emotional support and practical assistance, such as: · Formally identifying the deceased (if necessary) · Obtaining a medical certificate of cause of death from the attending physician · Arranging for the transfer of your loved one's body to the hospital mortuary or a funeral home
When a death occurs in a care home
If your loved one passes away in a care home, the staff will notify you immediately and provide guidance. They will:

Verify the death with a medical practitioner and notify the GP

Obtain a medical certificate of cause of death from the GP, if the death was expected

Contact the coroner if the death was unexpected or the cause is unknown
Care home staff will also help you notify the funeral director and make arrangements for the respectful transfer of your loved one's body. They will ensure your loved one is cared for until the funeral director arrives and assist with collecting their belongings.
